i know race is more than skin colour but when it comes to all these tourists who come here (and for my self image), it really isn't
they ask "why are all these trainees/aboriginal people white?" like listen fucko it was probably your recent ancestors who bred the black out of us
literally two generations ago my family was proper full blooded aboriginal, proper dark skin and everything
stolen generations shit really fucked that all up and now i have to prove to people that i'm aboriginal
work -, possibly mh -
the little aboriginal flag on my name badge was validating for me, it basically said "hey i look white because filthy white colonisers bred the aboriginal out of my skin but i still identify as part of the first nations people of this country"
now i just come across like every other white person in the resort, which is a little blow to me and my self esteem
oh, and a lovely side note: they've stopped putting the little flag of your nationality on the name badges like they've done for basically forever
their reasoning was "we only do it for trainees now" which tells me nothing other than "we only care about your aboriginality until we have to start paying your paychecks out of our funds instead of the government's"
they aren't wrong when they say that the company takes most of your paycheck back from you one way or another
i talked to a bunch of people who either live in the same housing area i'm in or work for their maintenance department who have said they can replace the shitty tv on the wall mount with a nicer, bigger one
housing department told me directly "sorry, it's the standard tv in the room and can't be replaced" so how the fuck did these people get it done?
"uh hey you know that supposedly new $10 mattress protector you made me pay for when i signed my lease? yeah it's got a big ol rip in it and i'm pretty sure it's used"
"*brings up low resolution photo of bed* nope can't see it, you'll need to pay $10 for a new one"
luckily, it's just based off of a realtek chipset
i just have to pray and hope one of the drivers on AUR actually works for it
granted, it was from an ebay reseller (saves having to mess about with pine64 and their shipping issues for rural locations) and they took their cut, but at least it's one of the 3gb ones (it's also from the manjaro community edition batch, not that it means much)
guess i'll see how well i get along with daily driving it (likely through postmarketOS)
please do not buy an LG G5, no matter how tempting the removable battery is
